Meet Jeff Dawson. Jeff has led an adventurous and service-filled life. His love of acting began in high school, where he was voted “Actor of the Year” and earned the title of “Class Clown” as a senior. He appeared in several productions, including Inner Willy and Inherit the Wind. In his most recent performance, Over the River (2003), Jeff played an 87-year-old Italian grandfather at age 58, memorizing more than 200 lines and drawing inspiration from his own father. Jeff also enjoyed music throughout his life. He sang tenor in school choirs, played piano in high school, and later sang in church choirs in Ohio. Out of Town Transportation Volunteers: They are not just kind, they are interesting, too! By India Gray In 1965, Jeff was drafted during the Vietnam era and was stationed in South Korea the following year. While there, he learned basic Korean, lived with a host family, and taught English to elementary students. His experiences in Korea left a lasting impression, and he hopes to return someday. After his military service, Jeff continued exploring the world. He studied Spanish in Costa Rica and Guatemala, earned his Spanish teaching credentials, and later taught part-time at EHOVE in Milan, Ohio. Over the years, he has visited 66 countries and 49 states, including spending 11 years living in Pakistan. Now 84, Jeff remains active and engaged. He enjoys playing mahjong, planning future travels, and giving back to his community. He volunteers for Serving Our Seniors, driving for our Out-of-Town Transportation Program to health care appointments.
