Serving Our Seniors Magazine: July - September 2026
Serving Our Seniors has contracts with two small businesses to perform small home repairs. Dustin Reiter, is the owner of Father & Son Do-It-All Services. Andrew Norcross, owns Hotshot Home Repairs. Both have glowing customer recommendations and character references; passed federal and state criminal background checks, provided proof of $1 million in liability insurance and in the event the businesses were convicted, in a court of law, for stealing from a customer, both are covered to compensate the victim for a loss of up to $25,000.00. Serving Our Seniors’ Handyman Program is designed to do a variety of small home maintenance and home improvement jobs to keep your home sanitary, safe and maintain it in good repair. Why? Because we do not want retirees to ignore a small repair and wait until their repair becomes a costly major home repair. Serving Our Seniors defines a small home repair or a home improvement to prevent a fall, as anything that costs $450 or less. If you can’t afford the cost of the repair, you can apply for Serving Our Seniors’ “cost- sharing” program. (Read the article about cost-sharing on page 7.) If you have delayed having a home repair addressed because you are afraid to let someone into your home, don’t be! Call Serving Our Seniors and let us help you. You can use one of our handymen or we can do a background search on those you are considering to hire. (Read the article below for more information.) To learn more about the Handyman Program or “cost-sharing”, call Serving Our Seniors (419-624-1856) . Ask to speak with a Senior Advocate Assistant or a Senior Advocate. Keep a Small Home Repair Small or Prevent a Fall This is the time of the year when unsuspecting people are likely to be ripped-off by unscrupulous home improvement “contractors.” Before you decide to let anyone come to your home for any type of estimate, home maintenance or home improvement work, Erie County residents, age 60 or better should call Serving Our Seniors, first! (419-624-1856). We Can Reduce the Chances of A Home Repair Rip-Off Chris Rankin Retired Police Officer, Chris Rankin, has been working with Serving Our Seniors, as a Consumer Protection Advocate. He helps Serving Our Seniors to prevent older adults from being victimized by home repair rip-offs. He has the skills to conduct public records searches and identify those who have a history with law enforcement and/or the court system. We can share with you the public record information of the person you are considering to hire. There is no cost for you to use this service. Andrew Norcross Dustin Reiter 22
